'High levels” in Falun Gong

My understanding is that the highest level in Falun Gong, the ultimate goal of our cultivation, is what Mr. Li pointed out “From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism.” [“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature” Essentials for Further Advancement]

Therefore, I think that cultivation is a process of getting rid of our selfishness. The less selfishness that we have, the higher level we are at in our cultivation.

The Health Effect of Falun Gong

You may not believe in any research no matter how well the research is conducted since there is no “perfect” research in this world. Yet you probably could be convinced after actually talking to 100 Falun Gong practitioners. Every practitioner who I have met has improvement in his/her health after practicing Falun Gong. My family members and my self have all benefited from Falun Gong. Many people who do not practice Falun Gong but have some contact with the practitioners also know the health effect very well. To us who know Falun Gong well, research really do not mean anything. It is like that man do not need research to tell them that food can cure hunger and water can cure thirsty.

Political or non-political

Falun Gong is apolitical not only because that this is one of the principles that Mr. Li has repeatedly emphasized in his teaching, but also because of Falun Gong practitioners’ action. Before the persecution in July 1999, Falun Gong practitioners never did any protest.

The gathering on April 25, 1999 that you referred to was a simultaneous response/effort of Falun Gong practitioners in order to clarify misunderstanding. It was not a protest. At that time, the practitioners simply wanted to tell the leaders what Falun Gong truly is from their personal experience.

There also have been similar events like this one before the persecution where practitioners physically went to media to clarify misunderstandings after other means of communication failed. All appeals of the practitioners before the persecution had been resolved peacefully in harmonious atmosphere after the misunderstandings were cleared. Because the practitioners had always been kind and rational, neither Chinese government officials nor the individuals involved in these cases ever had any “animus” toward Falun Gong practitioners before the persecution. The Jiang’s regime is now trying to lead the public who were not at the scenes of these events to believe that Falun Gong practitioners were trouble-makers in order to justify its persecution.

After the persecution, practitioners did form many protests. However, they only protest the persecution, but never did they protest the government itself. The only request we make is that the government should stop the persecution.

To believe or not to believe

I believe in Falun Gong because I think that it is an extraordinary science. I gradually realized that there have been so many scientific discoveries that our current textbooks should have long been rewritten. I have given one example in our article about some research where plants demonstrated advanced thinking process and superpowers.

I am not against other religions. In fact, I came to understand other religions’ teaching including the Bible and Buddhist scriptures and to respect Jesus and the Buddha only after I started to practice Falun Gong. I also fully respect the believers of these religions who genuinely follow these teachings that also require them to be good and kind people.

It is not that Falun Gong practitioners could not tolerate criticism, but we want these criticisms to be based on facts. We have been trying to present the physical and mental benefits that we have received from practicing Falun Gong as well as scientific evidence since we find that many of these criticisms came from lack of knowledge in history, science, Archaeology, Eastern cultivation culture, and Falun Gong. We only hope these individuals could acknowledge and take a look into the facts that we presented rather than just close their eyes and simply label something that they do not understand as “nonsense”. (Of cause, there are always some people who simply refuse to believe in anything even if they open their eyes and see the fact.)

The self-immolation in Tiananmen Square in January of 2001

The movie "False Fire: China's Tragic New Standard in State Deception" which analyzes the 2001 Tiananmen Square "self-immolation" incident, won a Certificate of Honorable Mention in Religion at the 51st Columbus International Film & Video Festival. New Tang Dynasty TV, a non-profit privately owned Chinese TV station, produced the movie. The award ceremony was held in the Kansas Center, Columbus Arts College, Columbus, Ohio. (http://www.chrisawards.org/pages/downloads/chriswinners.pdf)

Actually, I personally do not think any of the analysis of the scene is important. I only believe in my own eyes and ears. All I know is that those people who set themselves on fire were not Falun Gong practitioners because what they said and what they did were completely against the teaching of Falun Gong.

Background of China Anti-cult Association

The following is part of the investigation report. The full report is still under translation. A Report of Investigation of China Anti-Cult Association

I. Introduction

On July 22, 1999, Jiang Zemin regime initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. In order to legitimize the persecution, in October 25, 1999, Jiang became the first person who charged Falun Gong as an “evil cult” when interviewed by French newspaper Le Figaro [2]. On October 26, 1999, all Chinese state-controlled media published Jiang’s talk with the headline of “Falun Gong is an Evil Cult”. On October 30, the Chinese Representative Assembly Standing Committee passed “The Decision of Banning Cult Organizations, Guarding and Punishing Cultic Activities”.

China Anti-Cult Association (CACA) was established on November 13, 2000 in Beijing by some Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or Chinese government officials who have religious or scientific background. According to People.net, CACA’s goal is to “use the community force to fight Falun Gong” [1].

“Following the arrangements of the Central CCP” [TZ1], the founders and members of CACA have been using their religious and scientific background and social identities to justify and aid the persecution of Falun Gong. Their functions included: providing explanations to the people in China as well as in the world for necessity and justification of the persecution, providing suggestions to the Chinese government regarding the measures of the persecution, providing theories to criticize Falun Gong’s principles, and directly participating the brainwashing and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They achieve their functions with the direction and help from the CCP and through utilizing the state-controlled media.

CACA quickly established various branches in different provinces, cities, work units, and even schools [3, 4]. It has been motivating people from all social levels to join its organization to participate the movement of criticizing Falun Gong and brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners at work units, brainwashing centers, forced labor camps, and prison [5, supl.].
